Percy Priest is a popular location to go for fishing, boating and various watersports. Fishing is a beloved sport for many. J. Percy Priest Lake is a popular site for fishing tournaments and sport fishing.

Whether you like to fish from the bank or from a boat, you can enjoy your visit to the area. Many marinas offer bait and fishing supplies for sale and some even rent boats so you can enjoy a day out on a boat.

The lake has large mouth bass, striped bass, white bass, small mouth bass, crappie and bluegill. For those who want to improve their chances of a great catch, there are guides available. Several fishing charter services are also available in the area to help the more adventurous on their fishing trips.

From February through October of each year, the Old Hickory Percy Priest Bass Tournament, which is a club, hosts tournaments on Percy Priest and Old Hickory lakes, both of which are in the Nashville area. There are even guides and groups who specialize in fly rod bass fishing.

To fish on Percy Priest Lake, a Tennessee fishing license is required. Several bait shops and convenience stores sell licenses. Licenses can also be purchased on the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) website.
